What is Lagos Life?
Last updated: 2026-10-16
Lagos Life is a free multiplayer life-simulation game that runs in your web browser and is set in Lagos, Nigeria — no download and no app required.
Created by developer Shalom Rayhamen and his five-person team Vatar, it launched on 1 October 2026 and went viral, with the game's own dashboard reporting more than 2 million users within its first week (self-reported, not independently audited).
Details
Gameplay mirrors The Sims: you create a character, work jobs for virtual naira, pay weekly rent, manage six needs (hunger, energy, fun, social, hygiene, bladder), and explore a map of real Lagos spots — Quilox, Balogun Market, Freedom Park, New Afrika Shrine, UNILAG and more — while chatting with other real players in the shared world.
Each life starts with a Nepo vs Lapo draw: a Nepo begins rich in Lekki with dad covering rent, while a Lapo starts with 15,000 naira in a Mushin or Yaba single room.
From 6 October 2026 the world expanded to include Abuja and Port Harcourt, with flights between cities.
